Limitations

pinterest.com
Today's blog post is from a quote I found while on pinterest. I believe the quote is pretty self explanatory and fitting for finals week. "If you think you can, you can" and isn't that something wonderful.

Shake it Off

Shake it off

"Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake
Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake
Shake it off, Shake it off" -Shake it off Taylor Swift

Finals week is quickly approaching us, projects due, presentations to give, exams to take, and papers to write. How can anyone possibly balance the stress of it all? As cliche as it sounds, just shake it off!

Blasting music

Blast your music

Let's be honest, everyone has a day where you simply can't put all the emotions you have into words. When this occurs the best solution is to just lock yourself away and blast the music the embodies the mess of emotions that you feel. Weather you just need something thats going to make you cry, or a just a pick me up, music provides the venting source that we often need. One of my favorite bands to jam out to when I'm in that situation is "Sleeping with Sirens". The band has both acoustic tracks and loud screaming tracks that cover a large range of emotions and makes it a little easier to cope with knowing someone else has felt the same. "When words fail, music speaks".

Social Media

Social Media

Okay so I know in a previous blog post that the best way to unwind is to just turn your phone off right? Well sometimes that may be the best thing to do, there are other times where taking a moment of several hours to check up on social media to see what your friends are doing.

Netflix Binge

Netflix Binge

The best way to unwind after a long day of classes, studying, dealing with your roommates, and awkwardly passing the smelly guy in the hall way is to binge on Netflix. Netflix holds thousands of popular movies and television shows that make it easy to keep up with your favorite flicks. Being able to sit around in sweat pants and your hair in a bun and just unwind will allow your mind time to relax from the stress it's currently under. After a two or eight hours of binging, you'll feel rested and ready to get back to your daily duties.

Cramming.

Normally I come up with a little something that you can do to improve your overall day or a problem that you may be having. Today I'm going to talk about how important it is to not put off a huge project at the last minute. Today I spent approximately 5 hours in the computer lab trying to figure out how to make one logo in photoshop because I simply hate the program. Now it's 8 o'clock and I still have nothing done. The importance of this is that putting things off to the last minute results in being so flustered that trying to be positive and finding something to do to improve your day is impossible. Valuable lesson: DON'T WAIT FOR THE LAST MINUTE TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Wait... Chores...WHAT

Although nobody really enjoys chores, well actually most people do anything they can to avoid them, completing your chores can actually help to unclutter your mind and ease stress!
My grandma once told me that if I were to clean my room that I "might feel better," naturally I completely disregarded her comment and thought that is was just a scam to get me to clean my room. However, when your mind sees you organizing and getting things done that you know you have been putting off, it naturally begins to reprocess information allowing you to think clearer!

Everybody needs a cheat day!

It's okay to have a cheat day!

All I can say is comfort food, comfort food, comfort food!
Let's face it, some days all you want to do is dive into the pantry or the freezer and just go to town. It's okay, who cares if you eat enough calories for the next week in ice cream! You deserve to have a cheat day!

Dye your Hair!

Dye your hair

Dye your hair, really? It may sound strange, but sometimes all you need is a little change in your life. Every girl can admit that they dye their hair regularly, or wish that they had the guts to. It's perfectly normal to feel like you just need a change, so why not your hair it's gonna grow out and you can always dye it back? Even if dying your hair isn't really something you feel comfortable doing, a hair cut or even highlights can make you feel brand new and adds a little change up to your life.

Take a yoga class
Joining your friends for a yoga class has shown to have many positive effects, so maybe it's okay to join the yoga craze?
It's known that yoga improves your overall balance, strength, and posture but can taking a yoga class actually help to improve your every day to day life?
The answer is yes. While you're stretching and working on improving your posture that nasty creek in your neck or back pain will slowly fade away. Due to the slow relaxing stretches and deep breathing exercises yoga shows to lower your heart rate and improve make you feel more relaxed overall.

It's OK to buy the dress!

Treat yourself to a shopping day

It's common to hear of people going shopping after a long day and referring to the practice as "retail therapy". There's just something about buying a sassy new outfit that can save any bad day. In my opinion this works because when someone has a bad day it usually has to do with something out of their control, but when using the retail therapy approach you have control and change your whole image at your own will. Retail therapy also acts as a distraction, it keeps your mind busy from the issue that is truly stressing you out. While I don't recommend retail therapy as a daily method to relieving stress, once in awhile a little retail therapy can go a long way to drastically improve your mood.
